ZipGrip Buyer’s Guide

Understand the side-retained design

ZipGrip by SHAW guides the screen into side channels using a zip. It is an outdoor screening option for spaces such as pergolas, verandas and balconies. When comparing it with another outdoor blind, look at how the complete system fits your opening as well as the fabric you like.

Measure the opening as a system

The head assembly, channels and bottom rail all take up space. Posts that look straight may need closer assessment, and adjoining openings may need separate blinds. Let Beau assess the fixing surfaces and usable dimensions before you decide on a configuration.

State your main priority

Rank shade, privacy and outward view in order of importance. This makes it easier to compare the available screen fabrics. If you entertain after dark, explain where lights are located and ask how the chosen fabric affects privacy in those conditions.

Make access part of the design

Think about doors, outdoor furniture and walking routes with the screen lowered. Ask how the proposed system operates and whether the control position suits everyone who will use it. Confirm the available control and motorisation choices for the particular configuration being quoted.

Compare complete quotes

Check the system name, dimensions, fabric, colour, channels, operating method and installation. Two outdoor blind quotes may include different components even when the overall appearance seems similar. Ask about the recommended operating conditions, cleaning and maintenance for your location, especially where wind or coastal exposure matters.

During a free measure and quote, we can discuss whether ZipGrip is appropriate and compare other outdoor systems where useful. View ZipGrip, compare Zipscreen or request an appointment. Our mobile showroom services the Central Coast, Sydney’s Upper North Shore, Newcastle and surrounding suburbs.
