Straight Drop Blind Buyer’s Guide

A straightforward outdoor shading option

Zipscreen Straight Drop uses a simple arrangement with minimal components and floor-fixing options such as clips or straps. It is worth considering when you want outdoor shade and the location suits the fixing and operating arrangement.

Think about the bottom fixing

Before deciding, consider where the blind will be secured when lowered. The floor or other fixing surface, the route people walk and your ability to reach the fixing points all matter. Show Beau any steps, drainage areas or furniture that could interfere.

Compare it with a side-retained screen

A straight drop system is different from a screen with fabric retained in side channels. If your main priority is a closer fit around the sides, ask to compare Zipscreen or ZipGrip. Choose around the opening and the result you need rather than assuming all outdoor blinds perform in the same way.

Match the fabric to the sun

Explain which direction the sun comes from and when the space becomes uncomfortable. Compare the available fabric colours and openness against your outlook. If privacy matters, discuss both daytime and nighttime use.

Plan regular operation

Ask how the proposed blind is lowered, secured and raised. Consider how often you will use it and whether the fixing points will remain easy to reach. Request the operating guidance for weather changes and the cleaning instructions for your selected fabric.

Your quote should identify the dimensions, fabric, operating arrangement, bottom fixings and installation. A simple system still needs the right fit for the space.
