Wire Guide Blind Buyer’s Guide

When side channels may not suit

The Zipscreen Wire Guide system uses discreet cable guides. It is an option to discuss for floor-to-ceiling applications and openings where a side channel cannot be installed. Its brackets can be arranged at a floor, face or recess, depending on the site.

Check where the cables can be fixed

The top and bottom fixing positions are part of the design. An opening without suitable side posts still needs appropriate fixing points for the guide cables. Ask Beau to assess the surfaces and the alignment before deciding that a wire guide system is the right choice.

Think about whether cables or brackets could sit beside a walkway, door or furniture. The best arrangement should be practical both when the blind is raised and when it is down.

Understand the difference from zip retention

Cable guidance and fabric retained in side channels are different systems. If you want a closer side closure, compare a side-retained Zipscreen or ZipGrip arrangement where the structure allows. Explain whether shade, privacy or the appearance of minimal side hardware is your main priority.

Select fabric and controls together

Discuss the sun direction and the amount of view you want. Compare samples outside and ask about privacy when lights are on after dark. Confirm the control options for the proposed size and installation, including power requirements if motorisation is selected.

Ask about ongoing use

The system uses tensioned guides. Request guidance on care, operating conditions and what to do if the blind no longer travels smoothly. Have the fabric, brackets, controls and installation clearly identified in the quote.
