Choose how your blinds work, as well as how they look

A blind that suits a bedroom may not be the easiest option for a frequently used sliding door. Start with the room, the way the window opens and the light you want to manage. BCS supplies custom roller blinds, verticals and panel glides, with fabric samples brought to your home.

Roller, vertical or panel glide?

Roller blinds roll up above the window and create a simple finish. They are a useful starting point when you want a fabric blind with a compact appearance. Think about where the roll will sit and whether handles or a shallow recess affect installation.

Vertical blinds use hanging blades that can be adjusted and drawn aside. For a doorway, discuss which direction the blades should stack so they work with the opening you use most.

Panel glides use wider fabric panels that slide across a track. Before choosing them, consider the space the panels occupy when stacked and whether that affects your view or access.

Decide what light control you need

Tell Beau whether you want to soften glare, maintain a view or make a bedroom darker. Compare the available fabrics in your room. Privacy can change between daylight and nighttime, while gaps beside a blind affect the finished level of darkness. Ask to see how the proposed fabric and mounting arrangement address your priorities.

Choose practical controls

Consider which side you can easily reach and whether furniture will obstruct the controls. Motorisation is available for suitable systems. Confirm the motor, power source and any smart-home accessories included in the quote rather than assuming all controls work with every blind.

What changes the quote?

Window size, blind type, fabric, hardware, operating system and installation requirements all affect the price. For several rooms, prioritise the spaces you use most and discuss a consistent look across different blind types.
