Honeycomb Shade Buyer’s Guide

Start with comfort and light control

Honeycomb shades have a cellular fabric structure and a softly pleated appearance. Our Portrait honeycomb range includes sheer, light-filtering and room-darkening fabrics. Choose the fabric and operating arrangement around the room’s needs, rather than selecting by colour alone.

Which fabric suits the room?

For a living space, consider how much daylight and outward view you want. A bedroom may need stronger room darkening, while a study may need glare reduced without losing too much daylight. Check samples against your actual window and ask about privacy after dark.

The fabric is only part of the result. Light can enter around the edges of a shade. Optional LightGuard is available to reduce side light leakage; discuss whether it suits your window and the finish you want.

Compare the pleats and the fit

The range offers different cell sizes. Compare their scale against the window and the room and look at the space the shade takes up when raised. A shallow recess, projecting handle or opening window can influence where the shade is fitted.

Consider everyday operation

Cordless operating options are available in the Portrait range. During your appointment, explain how easily you can reach the shade, whether it is behind furniture and who will use it. Confirm the exact operating system offered for your window size.

Be specific about the result you want

Honeycomb shades are worth discussing when improving comfort is a priority, but the result depends on the window, fitting and home. Tell Beau which room feels uncomfortable and when, so the proposed fabric and installation can be considered together.

Ask your quote to identify the fabric, cell size, controls, any LightGuard and installation. View honeycomb shades or book your free measure and quote. We bring samples across the Central Coast, Sydney’s Upper North Shore, Newcastle and surrounding suburbs.
